Day14 New York (Friday 12th)

Chris worked out we could buy the bus tour tickets down stairs. We do so and walk upto Central Park south for a look, then back down 7th Ave, opposite our hotel at Starbucks, buy the tour tickets $49 each, 48 hour bus pass, on the red Grayline bus. Let us do, up tow, down and mid town, night tour and Brooklyn and the ferry ride. Pretty good value, looking back, with the guides.

We head up town, then down town which takes about 3-4 hours. We get off and go up the Empire State building for a look about. Lots of people, lifts and lines, a pretty brief look about in drizzly weather for $19 each. Went for a long walk around and got to Penn Station, after being directed there from Central Station, using the NY subway which is an experience on two different subways.

Back on the bus, it was raining, and the girl tour guide was good and knew her stuff. Its all very interesting and we ge back to the room stuffed and I want to stay in, on a Friday night in NY. We go out for dinner. We have an encounter at the first deli we try and leave after an altercation with a gay waiter who was a real bitch. We go back to Carnegie Deli and Chris had a Ruben sandwich which could feed two people and I had a triple decker sandwich that was literally 20cm thick, with bacon, turkey, ham and lettuce, enough for two people as well. We waisted so much, got a doggie bag but left it sitting on top of a bin for the homeless people we see rummaging in them. We head back through the crowded buzzing streets and get back about 11:30pm and gladly go to bed.
