Day13 New York (Thursday 11th)

Annoying 5:15 alarm, after a fitfil nights sleep. Chris puts on some in room take away coffees.
Packup and Chris checks out from our room.
Blistered foot doing ok with bandaids. All good.
Heading for a 5 hour flight.

We were picked up around 5:50am, which is still a tad dark. Its a small bus and we have to pick up a few other people. We go to the Admirals Club at the airport after self checkin where we didn't notice we weren't sitting next to each other and both had centre seats. Dohh. Plenty of people had bought their own food also because food and drinks had to be purchased if you wanted anything.

I sleep heaps but Chris doesn't much so the flight drags on a bit for her, its not quite as far as flying Brisy to Perth. We get to New York in the after noon, stand around waiting for the bus couriers, they turn up and we pack about 11 into a 9 seater plus luggage, after waiting some more. Its turns out to be about an hour drive into the city and we're the first off, so that at least is good for us.

The motel is a little aged and the carpet a tad worn. We get to our room and its a double bed that you both can't walk around at the same time, the aircon doesn't work, and the bathroom door can't be open at the same time as the room door cuz they bang... and its $400 a night. lol Chris spits and rings reception 3 times for an engineer to fix the aircon. She gives up ringing and goes down to reception to get a different room. While she's out the maintenance guy turns up and shows me the aircon controls on the wall dont wotk but there are another set under a flap on the aircon, it works fine.

Chris comes back with the new room keys and we change rooms. No different in the new one only on the 3rd floor now. We unpack and head out to the buzz of the city. On the street there was a diner under our hotel Wellington, we go in, it reminds me of the start of Pulp Fiction and Honey Bunney, very nice food and no one comes in and tries to rob us all.

We walk about and have a desert at Carnegie Deli (famous) which is huge and we're glad we're a block or two from our hotel so we can walk some of it off.
