Day11 San Francisco

We slept real well during the night in a king size bed at Kristian’s and got away about 8ish after programming the gps. Not too far down the highway towards Santa Cruz we came into slow heavy traffic and this was matched by the fog/rain. We decided t head inland a tad towards the harbour side of the coast which turned out better as the twisting winding road lead us away from the coast. It was exciting to be actually driving into San Francisco and we had to remind ourselves that was what we were doing and that we weren’t living someone else’s life.
Thank goodness we had the GPS as we could never had made it otherwise, with the loop de loop, freeway turnstiles, over passes, under passes, dual carriage ways and 10 lanes of traffic, at times sitting on 70mph and still having cars go passes on 90 it was an experience, but we made it without one wrong turn. I handed in the rental about 11ish with some reservation as it was great to be able to go wherever whenever.
Chris bought a 3 day Muni passport for the SanFran Municipal Railway which turned out great as we can ride the tram, trains, etc as much as we like. So it was off to explore the city on yet another little adventure. We headed for Fishermans wharf where we lunched on roasted crab and seafood enchilada, not bad at all. Playing on the trams was fun. We made it back to the hotel, after I bought some expensive new lenses for the camera, that I didn’t really want. We rest up for a bit as our legs are still sore from the Yosemite trek and I’ve got blisters from walking, before heading for the concierge for directions and the best way to get to the baseball tonight. The SF Giants play the Arizona Diamond Backs in an exciting and close game, 2 all, then 4 all, then the Giants win in the 9th. We go and return on the rail/subway using the passports again. Crash in bed after 11, sleep like logs until 6:30 and up and at it all again.
