Day07 20080905 Lone Pine

Up at 6:00am, packing, checked out, taxi to pick up the rental, paper work, up to the car park. Two guys tell us where to find the cars, we load all the gear up and try and get acquainted to driving on the wrong side of the car, wrong side of the road, with indicators, and gear lever on the wrong side, stand on my head to drive and I should have it sorted.
We get to the check out point and find out we have the wrong vehicle, keys are in them and we choose which one we want. Back again, change all the gear to another car, get reacquainted and off we go so the gps can find its satellites. The 2nd direction it gives us is into a street closed for construction. We follow our nose, some street directions and are soon back on tract so to speak.; four lane highway anyhow.

We twist and wind our way towards Death Valley National Park through the bare rugged ranges and take a few pics along the way. Got to be pretty much the worst, barest country I’ve ever seen, for a desert that is.

Made it into Lone Pine about 5ish. Getting the hang of this driving stuff and only drove down the wrong side of the road a few times. Glad Chris reminded me. Got a new song, to the BeeGees "stayin alive" but with words, "Stay on the Right"
